Lydia Nyamata currently serves as the Programs Manager at Recreation for Development and Peace Uganda (RDP Uganda), overseeing the entire programs department. She manages a team of 12 staff, 13 district coordinators, and over 2,000 youth community volunteers. In her role, Lydia leads initiatives that build strong youth and women movements in Uganda, focusing on human rights advocacy, protecting human rights defenders, and ensuring the efficacy of various projects.
Lydia has developed performance tools, managed development partnerships, and coordinated programs at operational, tactical, and strategic levels. As a mentor and leader, she has inspired and supported many young leaders to discover their full potential. Her leadership extends to representing RDP Uganda on the District NGO Monitoring Committee and serving as a Civil Society Coordination Convenor, enhancing CSO coordination and advocacy for social accountability.
Additionally, Lydia acts as RDP Uganda’s compliance officer and the focal person for the Strategic Development Goals (SDGs) in the Albertine Region. Passionate about youth, children, and women as special interest groups, she is dedicated to empowering communities and ensuring that young people become critical influencers in decision-making platforms.
Lydia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Adult and Community Education from Kyambogo University.
